What I'm Reading
Nothing says “author in progress” quite like reading a couple of good books while you do it. I’ve always believed in a healthy diet of TBR but it’s good to slim that down every once in a while. To that end here’s what I currently have on deck:
1. Red Sky Mourning by Jack Carr
I’m going to level with you, dear reader: I’m a sucker for this series. Yet another entry into the James Reece saga, Red Sky Mourning is hopefully going to tie up some loose ends because as much as I love this series shits getting a little ridiculous at this point. I will say the story is great so far though so either way I ought to have a good time.
2. A Rifleman Went To War by H.W. McBride
This one’s been on my radar for years and it’s finally time to get it knocked. Spoken about almost reverently in certain circles as an incredibly apt description of WWI that neither sugar coat things or glorifies in them, this first hand hot take on one man’s practical lessons learned on the front is sure to be a conversation starter at ye olde bourbon tasting if nothing else.
3. The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu
Recommended to me by someone not named Aaron (and therefore worthy of trust), this one has been floated as a science fiction novel of *quality* and I am very interest to see whether or not the reputation is deserved. Apparently this book has sparked a show/series on Netflix but I know nothing about it so the spoilers have thankfully remained minimal to nonexistent. I believe it’s the first part of a trilogy (?) but everyone I’ve talked to who recommended it called it a real humdinger. Will it live up to the hype? Only time will tell.
So there’s my current list, dear reader. A little action, a little learning, a little razzle dazzle. We’ll see shortly how they hold up!
