Self Care And Shelf Care

Listen, we’ve all been there. The best laid plans for a neat and tidy bookshelf with each row carefully alphabetized and separated by genre quickly devolves into a hideous wreck that resembles the unholy love child of a modern art piece and a librarian’s worst nightmare to result in the literary equivalent of jenga in the far corner of the room.

I won’t say it’s unavoidable, but I will say I don’t have enough bookshelves and I once again rue my lack of a Beauty and the Beast style wrap around library complete with swinging ladder (the singing, self cleaning dishes and furniture would also be a plus).

Still, just because life gets messy that doesn’t mean we have to accept it!

Take this post as an opportunity to step back and take stock, dear reader.

Set aside some personal time this weekend and reorganize that messy bookshelf. Show it who’s boss! And, when you’re done, go get yourself a fresh cup of coffee and sit down to read, listen to music, take a nap, or stare into the emptiness of the void.

The world is your oyster!

I ask you dear reader: why not start that book you always meant to? Or, if you’re all caught up, why not reread that one book that caught you by surprise and gave you chills?

Heck, if you haven’t been reading, why not start up again?

I for one have been binge reading far too many historical/business books back to back to back, and I think it’s high time I jump back into something a little less educational and a great deal more fun.

All work and no play and all that.
